Siletz River Front Property For Sale – Stamper House

As a Real Estate Broker I have seen a lot of houses during years of selling property.  Sometimes some that are just so special because of their unique location, the style of house, or history and you fall in love with them!  That’s how I feel about this house on the historic Siletz River is known to local people as The Movie House because it was built for the movie, Sometimes a Great Notion. However, the best kept secret about this house is that one of the best fishing holes on the Siletz is in the front yard — well actually the river!

The house is sited on 1.31 acres of pristine riverfront property. This Victorian style house offers spectacular year-round fishing, outdoor enjoyment and spacious indoor living.  As you approach the home by a private road through a bird sanctuary the Siletz River is on north and the Millport Slough on the south, placing the house on the point of the island.

It was initially designed to have an old appearance and has since many updates to the foundation, electrical, plumbing and addition of decks and laundry room.  The home’s wrap around porch provides an uninterrupted view of the passage of the seasons and the tranquil beauty of the river and evergreen forests that surround it. The numerous windows create a see through house, which enhances the beauty of the natural woods inside and out.  High ceilings with exposed beams on the main floor enhance the interior spaces. There is a full wall stone fireplace and two wood stoves that provide additional warmth and charm.

There is a grand stairway with a large landing on the second floor that leads to the romantic master suite where you can watch the sunrise, relax in the ball and claw soaking tub or enjoy with the warmth of the wood stove with a view of the river from the balcony. There are three additional bedroom suites with adjoining bathrooms with ample closet space and storage.  The house also has two large bedrooms with a bath on the main floor for a total of 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.

Indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces abound, including a dining room that is currently used as a card room.  The billiard room is down the hall and is complete with wet bar. The deck in the back yard is perfect for outdoor dining, and the fire pit provides a magical space to roast hotdogs and marshmallows.

The open floor plan is perfect for entertaining large groups with a large kitchen, center-island and high ceilings.  The warmth and rustic beauty is both charming and cozy.  The two-car garage also has a large workshop and is located steps away from the house.

Located in an area known for its beauty and less than 5 miles from Lincoln City.  Recreational opportunities abound with fishing on the river the Siletz River, which is rich in history, and famous for it’s, Steelhead, Coho salmon and Cutthroat trout fishing. On occasion, you can even catch some crabs, dig for clams a short distance away and watch the seals swim by. There are also several State and National parks a bird sanctuary, hills with hiking trails and golf nearby.
